South Hills Church hosted a wonderful BBQ honoring our Police & Firefighters at their Burbank Campus this past Sunday following their 10.45am Service. The BBQ was a culmination of their Love-The-818 campaign that included helping BUSD Teachers @ various school sites set-up their classrooms and providing Teacher lunches, helping BHC pack 100’s of free backpacks for kids who need them, BTAC undergarment drive, cleaning up Chandler Bikeway & serving at the LA Dream Center projects. In attendance were Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes (ret. Fireman), his Mom & son Scott; Councilman Bob Frutos (ret. Police); BPD Police Chief Scott LaChasse & Dep. Chief Michael Albanese; and Police & Fire personnel from Orange Groove & Verdugo Fire Stations. It was an honor to serve the men & woman who keep us safe everyday! I also had the chance to chat to the Mayor about a number of topics including various aspects of Police & Fire Dept. operations (recruiting, sro’s), as well as the upcoming Airport Terminal vote. Thank You Pastor Dave Stewart and South Hills Burbank for spreading the love of Jesus throughout our community.
Wonderful re-creation of The Last Supper last night as we reflected on Jesus Betrayal, his Suffering and Death on the Cross. The Good News is Sunday is Coming! We invite you to join us as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ @ First Presbyterian Church of Burbank @ 9:15am (Traditional service) & 11:15am (Contemporary service). Happy Easter!
MundoMax TV News Anchor (KWHY Channel 22) Palmira Perez spoke @ this months Burbank Buck & Ballot Brigade meeting @ Alta Dena Express Bakery. Guests enjoyed sandwiches & sweets as Ms. Perez shared her personal story and how the Spanish News Media works here in L.A. Perez took audience questions on a wide range of issues including immigration, presidential candidates, traditional family values, and offered some good career advice. In attendance were last month’s guest – Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian (who also happens to be her husband), former school board members Joe Hoovan, Dave Kemp, Ted Bunch & his wife, organizer Glen Forsch & other interested community members.
What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than attending the Diamond Jubilee celebration honoring Sister Regina Palamara @ St. Finbars. The event was MC’ed by former Mayor Marsha Ramos. In attendance were Rev. Albert Bahhuth & Rev. Francis Mendoza who gave the Invocation, Boy Scout Troop 219 who delivered the Flag Salute, Burbank Mayor Bob Frutos who presented Sister Regina with a plague in recognition of her 60 years of service to the community as a Missionary Sister of the Sacred Heart (aka “Cabrini Sisters”), and the Key to the City of Burbank! St. Finbar School Principal Michael Marasco, Former Student & KTLA News Anchor Cher Calvin, Cabrini Sisters & Family Members all joined Marsha in sharing stories of Regina’s impact. Also attending the Luncheon were Laura Frutos, Vice-Mayor Jess Talamantes & former Assemblyman Anthony Portantino. Food was served by The Knights of Columbus incl. Marsha’s husband Dave, Dad and community servant Juan Guillen, to name just a few. Sister Regina has been a great supporter of Family Promise and you can enjoy some past PHOTO Memories here & a few IOS snaps from Sunday’s event here. * Ext. LINKS – MyBurbank.com Story
