New Churches – Story City, South Hills, CityLight

This summer we’ve been spending some time experiencing what God is doing through some of the newer Church plantings in Burbank. Story City Church, South Hills Church & CityLight Church members have been out-&-about all over town serving their Community – from Backpack Giveaways to Flash Gas Buys, Random Acts of Kindness, Encouragement Cards, Free Coffee/Donuts & Water at City Events & much more… Burbank has been saturated with God’s People demonstrating His Love & Generosity in a powerful way. All 3 Churches have hosted Family Movie Nights we’ve attended and we’ve had the chance to visit-worship-fellowship with 2/3 Churches so far, as well as listen/watch several sermons online. Here’s a brief summary of these Churches for those looking to experience a vibrant Jesus centered Faith-Community.

Family Promise National Conf. – Karen Olson

Family Promise held it’s 2016 National Conference @ the Long Beach Hyatt Regency last month. Our local affiliate (FPV) was well represented with Albert Hernandez, JP O’Connor, Sandy Thompson, as well as West Pres. Pastor Paul Clairville presiding over Sunday’s Inter-Faith Service. The conference closed with founder Karen Olson’s Farewell Retirement Speech & a moving Tribute. Easter Service @ Burbank Pres – He Is Risen!

Sister Regina Palamara Diamond Jubilee

What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than attending the Diamond Jubilee celebration honoring Sister Regina Palamara @ St. Finbars. The event was MC’ed by former Mayor Marsha Ramos. In attendance were Rev. Albert Bahhuth & Rev. Francis Mendoza who gave the Invocation, Boy Scout Troop 219 who delivered the Flag Salute, Burbank Mayor Bob Frutos who presented Sister Regina with a plague in recognition of her 60 years of service to the community as a Missionary Sister of the Sacred Heart (aka “Cabrini Sisters”), and the Key to the City of Burbank! St. Finbar School Principal Michael Marasco, Former Student & KTLA News Anchor Cher Calvin, Cabrini Sisters & Family Members all joined Marsha in sharing stories of Regina’s impact. Also attending the Luncheon were Laura Frutos, Vice-Mayor Jess Talamantes & former Assemblyman Anthony Portantino. Food was served by The Knights of Columbus incl. Marsha’s husband Dave, Dad and community servant Juan Guillen, to name just a few. First Presbyterian Church of Burbank & Neighborhood Rock School Rockin’ For First Presbyterian – a Youth Camp Fundraiser.
